What is Narrative writing?
Narrative writing is storytelling, which involves a plot, setting, characters, theme, point of view and the use of narrative devices.

PLOT: A plot is a sequence of events with a beginning, middle and end with characters in conflict.
SETTING: Location, time period, weather, and time are all important dimensions as to where/when the story takes place.
CHARACTERS: Characters are the people, animals, or things in which the experience of the story is developed around. It is important to consider the character's appearance, age, personality, and speech.
THEME: The underlying explicit or implicit meaning of the story. Many stories have more than one theme.
POINT OF VIEW: Which perspective is the reader reading from? The narrator of the story determines the focus & viewpoint.
NARRATIVE DEVICES: To make writing more vivid, authors use comparisons, hyperboles, imagery, personification, symbolism and tone.
